HOW A CAREER ACTION

           PLAN HELPS YOU

Putting together a career action plan helps you in many ways, but two that
will be of greatest value to you are:
           1. a career action plan forces you to take the time to actually focus on your
career goals and think about the necessary actions to reach them, and
           2. it will provide you with a resource that you can refer to keep you on track
with your goals. Your career action plan will remind you what needs to
be done, what you’ve already accomplished, and remind you that you
              are making progess.

In fact, the purpose of a career action plan isn’t to lock yourself into a set of
“must-do” actions, but instead committing to yourself in writing that you can
and will take positive steps to create the career you want.

The easiest way to get started on your career action plan is usually to
create a journal of some sort to record your ideas, questions, and possible
action items. Cut some time for yourself so you can start organizing your
thoughts. If you’re going to be a healthcare professional for the next
several decades, taking some time to think through this process and
putting together a career action plan now will be a small investment that will
pay great dividends over the years.
