In your action plan, you might want to identify how you’ll expand your
professional connections. As a critical part of building your network, you’ll
want to note how you’ll help others in your community of colleagues.
Strengthening your risk-taking muscle. Adaptability is a key strength in
order to create a resilient nursing or healthcare management career, but
being adaptable means you’ll need to become comfortable with change.
Are there actions you can take as part of your plan that would help you get
better at this?
What risks will support the direction you want your nursing or healthcare
management career to go? Big steps or baby ones, the goal is to figure out
how you usually react to risk, and then be able to coach yourself through
it so the fear of taking risks doesn’t stop your forward progress. The good
news? The more often you take a risk, the less intimidating it becomes.
Ways to get the information you need. How will you identify the
information you’ll need to gather regarding your intended or potential
career path, and how will you gather/monitor it?
For instance, will you monitor blogs, and if so, which ones and why? Will
you join professional associations, attend conferences, identify and read a
core collection of books on your topic? Keep in mind, you’ll probably want
to stay on top of two different types of information: information about the
profession or type of job you’re interested in, and the knowledge necessary
to perform the job.
