HOW PREFERENCES SHAPE
CAREER PATHS
As you start off on the long journey of your career, you’ll find that you
learn a little bit more about yourself and what enables you to engage and
perform at your best (and your happiest) with each job you take and each
career decision you make. Your first job is just your first job. It doesn’t have
to be perfect.
Instead, that first job, or in fact, any job along the way, can be instead a
terrific opportunity to keep growing your career in the direction that you find
most rewarding. Assume that that direction may change as you change,
and that as you move into new life circumstances, the characteristics of
your best job and your best career place are likely to change as well.
Once you’ve taken the time to consider your preferences, you’ll always
be aware of making purposeful choices regarding these options when
weighing future job options. You’ll have a much stronger sense of what will
work for you and what won’t. And you’ll know why.
