Reset the table
Clear and wipe the table as quickly as possible, even when it is
quiet. A venue with empty, dirty tables looks uncared for and
uninviting.
Straighten stools and chairs (first). Then clear and wipe the table.
Always check that any table talkers are stocked and refill as
required.
Check under the table for rubbish.
takeaway
Take the order
If the guest has indicated that they wish to place a take away
order, direct the customer to the counter and ensure someone is
ready to take their order.
Greet the customer with a warm, relaxed smile and friendly
greeting.
Process the customer’s order through the POS and repeat the
order back to the customer to double check accuracy.
Always take the guests name for take away orders. Direct the
customer to a suitable and comfortable place to wait for their
order. When the order is ready, where possible, take the order to
the guest. Use their name when delivering their food and/or drinks
to them.
Look up, look out and smile: “Cassie your order is ready”. This is
much nicer than shouting out “Cassie?”.
Very important!!!
farewell your guests
Whether they have dined in, or ordered takeaway, no guest should
leave the venue without a warm and genuine farewell. “Thank you!”
or “Enjoy the rest of your day”
It is every staff member’s responsibility to ensure guests leave
with the best, lasting impression as possible!
See Farewelling the Guest Standard and Procedure.
