Lost
Continuing his mission, Cole was checking up on the welfare of the families in the
village that had just been devastated from a recent attack. The suffering of the
people, and the cruel nature of war is what caused him to become a medic rather
than a soldier. You see, Cole used to be one of the fiercest warriors on the
battlefield, until one time, he mistakenly killed two civilians and orphaned a 5-
year-old boy. Since then, he swore to never take lives but rather try to save them.
Because what he did felt so traumatizing that he couldn’t bear to let people suffer.
Upon one of his encounters, he faced an orphan trying to help other people while
also bleeding. This reminded Cole of a specific incident and he decided to take
the kid as a pupil and raise him. The kid was called Aaron.
For two years, Cole taught Aaron everything about what it’s like to help others
and the moral reasons of why war is such a horrible event. Cole hadn’t decided to
raise Aaron out of guilt, but rather due to the fact that he saw a kind spirit with a
genuine feeling for others. A weakness that was revealed in Aaron with each
passing day was when he acted too much on his emotions and made rushed
decisions.
On the day when the battle decided everything, with the means to avenge his
parents, Cole overheard Aaron plotting with the chief to bomb the opposite side.
As much as Cole tried to stop them the plan succeeded and killed dozens. This
led their side to victory, but Cole knew deep down he had lost.
