The Internet of Things Will Change

                           The Car Industry Forever

Have you ever thought that the revolution of the automotive industry will rely on information technology? Have
you ever imagined that cars of the future will be connected? Have you ever had the idea that one day, cars will
become a large mobile device? What if things that once seemed impossible became possible and what are the
impacts on the car manufacturing sector?

Viability of the Internet of Things

The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) is basically
connecting any device to the internet. This includes
everything from mobile phones, washing machines,
coffee makers, household appliances and almost any
electrical device you can think of.

The IoT is a giant network of connected devices which
creates the relationship between people to people,
people to things and things to things. Based on analysis
by consulting firm Gartner, by 2020 there will be over
26 billion connected devices. Among the masses of
connected devices, Gartner also predicts that nearly
250 million cars will be connected to the internet and
          PriceWaterhouseCoopers forecasts that the connected
car market will be worth USD 149 billion.

As the new rule for the future is going to be, “Anything
that can be connected, will be connected”, the results
represent a significant step forward for all industries. It
demonstrates the viability and cost effectiveness of the
technology and paves the way for us to help the IoT
          ecosystem develop.

In Paris November 2015 to February 2016 was the first
time that Swedish communication technology giant
          Ericsson, French telecommunications company Orange
and US technology giant Intel successfully conducted
the world's first extended coverage trial for the Internet of
Things. It was done for low-cost, low-complexity devices
and enhanced network capabilities for cellular IoT.

The New Landscape of Car Making

Changes in the current automotive market are already
          transforming automakers into technology companies
and IoT will accelerate more change.
