Too Good to Miss
On paved streets that meandered through snug homes and in the air rang a scent as sweet as spring
blooms, an annual event crackled with anticipation--the town festival. This year's event offered me an
unexpected twist. This opportunity was too good to miss.
I have even higher dreams now that I am an aspiring photographer, and a photography competition
by "Captured Moments" offered more than just recognition. The subject, small-town life, fits perfectly
with the spirit of my surroundings. It took me a lot of cogitating before I could persuade myself that this
was an opportunity not to be missed.
The festival unwound like a story sitting in the wings. Children's merriment, the music of a local band,
and the fragrance of street food combined to form a symphony for all senses. I attempted to capture
with each click of my camera the very soul of this community.
The closer the submission deadline grew, I lost myself in my craft's magic. Late-night editing sessions
became a routine, carving out a visual tapestry of the town by its heart and soul. My portfolio finally got
a bustling main street, the sun setting behind an ancient tree, and warm smiles exchanged between
neighbors.
The day of the competition my heart beat fast with anticipation. Looking back on the road that
brought me here, I marveled as judges read over submissions. From nervousness to a sense of great
accomplishment. Whether successful or not, I had already won. This chance to reach the summit,
replete with trials and thrills, became part of the tale behind my enthusiasm. In fact It was among a
group that I discovered there are some chances in life which it's just too tempting not to take!
