In an effort to provide our High School
participants with the opportunity to experience
the ACT Exam, we partnered with a local ACT
Bootcamp Program led by Soror Carolyn Thom-
as. The coordinators of the ACT Bootcamp
Program believe the ACT is one of the most im-
portant tests a high school student will take
during their educational career. This is based on
the rationale that the results can substantially
shape their future and indicate if they are ready
for opportunities in college, careers and beyond.
Carolyn and her staff spent Saturday, December
7 with 21 of our participants that chose to take a
practice ACT Exam at Carver Elementary
School. The mock exam was formatted as an
exact simulation of the real test and what is
expected of the students. We monitored arrival
times, supplies used, and students’ level of active
engagement in answering test items. The
