Types of Education Programs
ABA TRAINING
ABA Training is a comprehensive source for training and education available through the American Bankers
Association (ABA). ABA Training includes extensive learning opportunities suited to specific job roles, in both
facilitated and self-paced online formats, as well as in person. Online training delivers unmatched content that
meets the needs of today’s learners and the changing demographics of the banking industry.
• Facilitated Online Training Courses - These courses are available in a virtual classroom environ
ment, complete with fellow students, instructor guidance and feedback. Facilitated online training
courses offer banking-specific content supported by experienced instructors with a flexible weekly
structure and set start and end dates.
• Self-Paced Online Training Courses - These courses offer the greatest flexibility in skill-building prac
tical appication as they are independent study and include real-life practice scenarios.
• Certificates - For more than 100 years, bankers have taken advantage of ABA certifiacate programs
to prepare for careers in banking or to enchance the skills and knowledge they already posses.
Certificates build the skills necessary for a specific position in the bank and can be taken entirely
online.
CONFERENCES
Conferences are one or two-day events that provide annual updates for Iowa bankers on hot topics, emerging
trends, current and pending legislation, new products and services and innovative ways to enhance profitability
and reduce risk.
CONVENTION
The IBA Annual Convention offers many opportunities to participate in networking and educational sessions, in-
cluding an Exhibit Hall, entertainment, nationally known keynote presenters, a wide variety of breakout sessions,
and a legislative update, agricultural breakfast and other great events.
PEER GROUPS
IBA Peer Groups estabilish a network where you can ask questions, share ideas and gather best practices in a
confidential and congenial setting.
• Traditional Peer Groups - These groups meet 3-4 times per year and the IBA facilitates agenda devel
opment, presentations and networking
• Online Peer Groups - Online peer groups use Google Groups to facilitate discussion and allow you to
connect with bankers from accross the state without having to spend time out of the bank.
SBS INSTITUTE
The Iowa Bankers Association has partnered with the SBS Institute to serve the banking industry by providing
cyber education to better prepare students and their financial institution for cybersecurity threats and regula-
tions. SBS certifications are available online and are tailored to specific roles within an institution.
