A Message from Mayor Tom Schoaf
Once the first day of summer passed, I began thinking about the promise of cooler weather in a
few not so short weeks. While many of our residents are enjoying the promise of cooler weather
someplace else, we are enjoying the less hectic pace of summer here in the Park. The Recreation
Center is busy with kids enjoying the pool, a round of golf is back to much less than four hours,
the roads are less full, and it is more relaxed in our restaurants and pubs. All in all, the hot weather
has some advantages for those of us that remain.
The summer is busy for the City. We are beginning a major road project laying new pavement on
Fairway from the intersection of Fairway Drive and Old Litchfield Road then along La Loma
Drive to the intersection with Old Litchfield Road including the cross streets and cul-de-sacs.
This will resolve one of our worst sections of City streets.
We also will be continuing to work on the planning for the downtown center. We have gotten behind
on our schedule as we work to coordinate our development with plans for renovation and possible expansion at the The Wigwam
resort. While losing the time is regrettable, we only have one opportunity to get this right so the extra time is being well spent.
We continue discussions with businesses in the search for the right business solutions for the downtown center.
The City is actively working through the process of hiring new staff members. We have hired a new Finance Director and will be
identifying a new Assistant City Manager by the end of summer.
Even though many things will be generally less hectic in the Park, your City Council and City Staff will be busy with the affairs of
the City. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 623-935-5033 or tschoaf@litchfield-park.org.
