Theory of Operation
Chapter 3: Theory of Operation
During an alarm condition or a system error on the Master Alarm, the
following occurs:
• Master Alarm sounds an alarm, and the corresponding red alarm LED
lights, if applicable (errors do not light LEDs).
• Message displays.
• Alarm or error logs into the Master Alarm’s memory.
• Electronic message is sent.
• If the Network Communications Board is installed in the Area Alarm, and
the Area Alarm Modules fail to respond to the Master Alarm; the Master
Alarm sounds, message is sent to the event log and displayed, and an
electronic message is sent.

During an alarm condition or a system error on the Area Alarm, the following
occurs:
• Area Alarm sounds an alarm, and the corresponding red high or low alarm
LED lights, if applicable (errors do not light LEDs).
• If the gas pressure is above or below its setpoints or if the vacuum is below
its setpoint, the pressure reading flashes.
• If it is an alarm error, the error code displays on the corresponding Area
Alarm Module.
• If the Network Communications Board is installed in the Area Alarm:
• Area Alarm message is sent to the Master Alarm.
• Master Alarm sounds.
• Message displays on the Master Alarm.
• Error or alarm logs into the Master Alarm’s event log.
• Electronic message is sent from the Master Alarm.
All alarms include the following:
• Alarm silence key to silence the audible alarm.
• Red LEDs that remain lit until the alarm condition is no longer present.
• Test key to perform a self-test of each alarm.
