The Broward County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was proud to be the Southern Regional Host
Chapter for the third stop of seven on the National Arts and Letters Commission 2020/2021 Virtual Delta Authors on Tour
(DAOT), “Survival of the Fittest: Read, Relax and Relate”.
The purpose was to have the authors share their reasons for writing and what they hope others can learn from reading
their books. We also wanted to make sure we promoted these fantastic author’s books and increase their book sales. The Delta
authors that participated in the Southern Region’s tour were: Julia A. Davis, Cynthia Freeman Gibbs, Brandee J. Harrington,
Lanessa Jackson, Dr. Monique May, Jovita N. Miller, Stephanie Perry Moore, Dawn J. Smith, Terri Williams Spicer, Tamera L.
Wells-Lee and Jenny Thelwell, a member of the Broward County Alumnae Chapter and donated 50% of her sales towards our
          scholarship program.
On Friday evening, April 9, 2021, we presented a virtual Zoom VIP Reception, and our very own Soror Catherine Minnis
was the emcee for the DAOT kick-off. Many of our sorors were in attendance and engaged in this fun-filled evening. The partici-
pants were intrigued with the authors, entertainment, book giveaways, and National and Regional support.
On Saturday, April 10, 2021, we showcased the authors’ tour live on YouTube and Facebook channels hosted by the
undisputed Soror Tamara Gant. The program began with greetings from our National Arts and Letters Commission, Southern
Regional Director, Southern Regional Representative, Florida State Coordinators, and our remarkable Chapter President. We
were entertained by Mr. Ian Mann, a gifted violinist, and Soror Katrina Sapp-Holder, a spoken word artist. Afterward, we transi-
tioned to breakout rooms where each author shared their literary journey, the inspiration for their writing and provided guests
          the opportunity to purchase books.
The Broward County Alumnae Chapter, representing the Southern Region, sold 1,267 books!!! We are so thankful to
the entire Arts and Letters Committee members for their efforts in the success of this event.

Program Planning and Development was faced with uncertainties when the pandemic
shifted the way our programs operated in Spring 2020 and for the entire 2020-2021
sororal year. With a spirit of resilience and a team of dedicated and innovative women
leading the programs, we came together to continue the great work in our Five-Point
