The Kim B. Wright Dimes for Education Campaign was By Soror Deetra Sands-Durham
the vision brought to life by our beloved deceased Soror Kim B. Wright. Kim
was an educator in the Dade County School System for many years before
her passing. Her passion was empowering and supporting students to
achieve their goals and to always be their best. The goal of the project was to
generate revenue to assist students with pursuing their college education. As
the Fundraising Chair of DELDF, she brought the idea to the Board of Direc-
tors in 2019. The project consisted of filling up a 16 oz. water bottle with
dimes, which equaled approximately $100.00. The project lasted three
months and culminated with fabulous in Kim Wright style, celebration with
the Junkanoo Band from Miami Performing Arts and sorors had a grand ole
time. This year we held our second Dimes for Education Program. A total of $12,000.00 has been raised in the scholarship fund.
Although Soror Kim is not here with us, her spirit lives on through the Dimes for Education Program. You may contribute at any
time at our website: https://www.deldf.org
