WP: Let’s talk about the The
Dorchester, how did that journey begin
and what inspired it?

IB: As with the planning and décor, I
noticed a gap in the market with regards to
venues. Most of the venues we had were
either not too nice looking or the usual
canopies. I knew we could do better and
serve our clients with better and thus the
marquee business was born.

WP: How has it been? What are the
challenges running an event place in
Nigeria?

IB: Wow. So many challenges, from lack of
stable electricity supply, to getting all sorts
of permits just to ensure your marquee is
still standing. We particularly had to deal
with ocean surges at our event place as the
sand filling of the Atlantic meant the water
kept overflowing its banks and crashing into
the marquee. But God has been faithful and
we have overcome it all.
