Beaded Easter Necklace Angela Finch’s necklace combines beads and wire
in the most egg-cellent way!
Easter egg necklace
Kit List
Silver plated copper wire: 1mm, 0.4mm
Quilling tool, teardrop shape Pliers: flat nose, round nose, split ring Seed beads, size 11 in four colours Silver chain
Silver head pins Faux pearl beads Flush cutters Split rings, 6mm Bolt ring clasp
1Cut a 21cm length of 1mm wire. Wrap it closely around the third smallest level
on the teardrop quilling tool to create an egg shape. Twist one wire around the other to lock 2the shape in place.
Cut a long piece of 0.4mm wire. Wrap it
tightly around the bottom of the egg shape. Keep wrapping until the base of the egg is covered with the smaller wire. Use pliers or 3your nails to keep the coils together.
Using the longer side of the 0.4mm wire,
add beads until they fill the gap between the two sides of the base of the egg. Wrap the 0.4mm wire behind the 1mm wire on the opposite side, and wrap it around four times, 4working upwards.
Add more seed beads working in the
opposite direction. Repeat to create more rows, remembering to change the colours of the beads when you reach row 4, 5 and 6. Cut the excess 0.4mm wire with flush cutters. Use flat nose pliers to gently squeeze the wire around the egg to make sure there are no rough areas. Create two more eggs in the same way, but 5alternate the colour scheme in each of them.
Cut a 45cm long piece of silver chain and
fold it in half. Squeeze the bottom 1mm
of the egg to restore the shape if it has been bent. Use round nose pliers to create a vertical loop on the 1mm wire at the top of the egg. Push a tail of the wire loop through the most central link in the chain.
How lovely is this springtime accessory by Angela Finch? She’s on hand with a stash-
busting make that looks great no matter what beads you use. “Easter always comes to mind when I think of spring,” says Angela. “This fun necklace is inspired by seasonal chocolate eggs, and it’s a great chance to practise your wire work!”
