TRAVEL

extraordinary property include spacious canvas tents, pioneer-style
                                                    covered wagons, and private bungalows.

As a skeptic of camping, I was pleasantly surprised by how luxuri-
ous my stay at Zion Wildflower Resort was. The billowing canvas
tent I stayed in was equipped with a feather top king-sized bed and
heated blankets. String lights adorn the inside of the tent, making
for an ambiance like no other. Each tent has a small porch set up
with rocking chairs that makes for the best stargazing experience—
something you can only experience when truly in nature.

Additionally, Zion Wildflower Resort offers an abundance of recrea-
tional activities on its property. Guests can enjoy onsite yard games,
picnic benches, barbeques, and hammocks. The fire pits around
the resort create the perfect opportunity to make s’mores and get
to know your fellow glampers. Perhaps my favorite part about Zion
Wildflower Resort was the opportunity to connect with nature with-
out sacrificing the comfort of a traditional hotel.

                                                    Golf
With 13 golf courses in a 20-mile radius, Greater Zion is an ideal
destination for those who desire to golf with a view. This area is par-
ticularly unique for when golfers stand up on the tee box, they have
the opportunity to soak in a full 360-view of kaleidoscope scenery.
This serene landscape makes for a golf experience like no other.

After speaking with Kevin Lewis, president of Greater Zion
Convention & Tourism Office, I discovered that the origins of tour-
ism to the Greater Zion area originate from a golf story. The early
settlers who came to Southern Utah had to work hard to carve an
existence. However, a few early settlers saw something unique and
believed if they could share this area with others, it would change
the dynamics of the community. In 1965, the first golf course opened,
changing the mindset of people. Locals began to adopt the belief
that there was something special about opening up your place for
others to experience and share. “Golf transformed this place from a
land of survival to a land of opportunity,” says Lewis.
