NLV women’s basketball head
coach Lindy La Rocque, a home-
town Las Vegas basketball hero
who played college hoops at
U Stanford, has a year head start
on UNLV men’s basketball head coach Kevin
Kruger. La Roque, the all-time men’s and wom-
en’s leading score at Durango High School, was
named the head coach prior to the 2020-21 sea-
son, while Kruger, who led UNLV to its most
recent NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2007, was
named the head coach ahead of the 2021-22 sea-
son. La Rocque quickly made her mark on the
women’s program by leading the team to a 15-9
record a year after the Rebels went 13-17. For her
efforts, she was awarded the Mountain West
Conference Coach of the Year.
