WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE
BY LENOR MADRUGA CHAPPELL
t age thirty-two, Lenor Madruga Chappell overcome cancer
Aand the amputation of her left leg. She survived and more—
she thrived, living life to the full and getting around on her electric
three-wheeler. So, she figured it would take a lot more than turning
seventy to bring her down. She sent a questionnaire to ten friends
and her older sister, asking them to “get real about aging,” wonder-
ing how other women of “a certain age” were navigating what she
calls the “third act.” One question explored “What scares you most
about growing older? Are you worried about losing your looks,
your money, or your marbles?” The purpose was to spark frank dis-
cussion about aging, the end result being her third published book,
Women of a Certain Age. The stories of five remarkable women are
included, as well as Chappell’s own anecdotes told with humor or
heart-wrenching poignancy. The book is honest and transparent.
Chappell has also written The Next Leg of my Journey and One
Step at a Time. The book Women of a Certain Age can be found at
www.lenorchappell.com, and on Amazon, Kindle, Target,
Barnes & Noble, and Ingrams.
