hen Rogue Valley folks speak of “The Applegate,” they might be referring to a small commu-
Wnity, a region, a river. In broadest terms, it spans three counties and two states. Those who call
The Applegate home have limited services and no local government. Through a collaborative visioning
process, A Greater Applegate (AGA) was formed to magnify the region’s varied voices, and strengthen
the social, environmental, and local economic fabric among residents, businesses, laborers, and visitors
within that watershed. Over the past two years, AGA has facilitated Neighborhood Listening Sessions,
the groundwork for the Applegate Valley Vision. More than 300 people from Wilderville and Murphy to
Little Applegate and Ruch have gathered at meetings to participate in the process. The data collected is
being organized, compiled into key focus areas and redistributed to the community for additional feedback. Once the vision framework is
created, AGA will collaborate with the local community and experts from public and private agencies to create Community Action Teams that
           will support community-selected projects.

The core of AGA’s work is connecting varied Applegater voices, needs, and aspirations with available resources to actualize these priorities.
Some examples of working categories include emergency preparedness, health and wellness, food security, local economy, destination man-
agement, and water resources. Visit www.agreaterapplegate.org to learn about upcoming community action team projects in The Applegate
