anywhere in the galaxy in a couple of minutes. And oh, were there galactic wonders to behold!
Of course, Graham tended towards the wonders of galactic golf. Reading from the Galactic Golf Catalogue he found the sport had bloomed all over the galaxy as the game for just the right amount of exercise and relaxation in beautiful cosmic nature. But Graham still had to choose which course and on which planet to play.
There were the wondrous courses of the planet Baltusrol. On its links, if you hit the ball at all, even topped it, you’d get a hole-in-one in this most forgiving of layouts. “Sort of like God,” Graham mused.
Planet Shinnecock used quantum entanglement possibilities so that you could choose from an infinite number of outcomes on each shot be it a slice, a hook or those long, lazy draws that roll forever. You still had to hit the ball solidly however, as even quantum’s infinite possibilities couldn’t turn a shanked shot into a towering drive.
For the more challenging courses there were those in the Pebble Beach asteroid belt. Space golf carts flew you between each asteroid. Each tee box, fairway and green were separate asteroids unto themselves. Should you miss them your ball sailed into permanent orbit about the galaxy unless sucked into a tighter orbit around some planet or sun. Then there were planet Troon’s renowned cave courses where the novelty was rebounding the ball off cave walls as you spiraled down and around magnificent caverns. You had to play on Astroturf however, since there was no starlight to sustain real subterranean grass.
And there were many other golf variations. Graham
