Highlighting and emphasis is on writing and critical reading, and research.

English 10-2, 20-2, 30-2

5 credits each
This Course alignment is a requirement for a Alberta High School Diploma. Suitable for post-
secondary in programs not Requiring English 30-1. This program alignment has highlighting and
emphasis on developing practical language skills for today’s
workplace.

For alternative level Language Arts, English Knowledge &
Employability (K&E) programs 10-4, 20-4 & 30-4, each are 5
CREDITS courses,

Social Studies

Social Studies 10-1/20-1/30-1

5 credits each (Prerequisite: Minimum mark of 60% in the previous course highly recommended)
This Course alignment is the entrance requirement for post-secondary. Students develop
enhanced critical thinking abilities and advanced essay writing skills.

Social Studies 10-2/20-2/30-2

5 credits each
This Course alignment is the minimum requirement for a high school diploma. This Course
alignment is can also, be used as a prerequisite for certain post-secondary institutions or the
trades Colleges.
