Unit-Dose Packaging
1. Expiration dates are not to exceed six months from the date of drug repackaging as
indicated on the label.
2. Once medication is punched/removed from the bubble/blister or unit dose package, the
medication must be immediately administered or destroyed per facility policy.
Multi-Dose Vials
1. Vials must be dated upon opening and discarded within 30 days unless otherwise specified
by manufacturer.
2. Insulin vials may not be stored at temperatures that exceed seventy-five degrees
Fahrenheit.
All Other Stock Medication
1. Medications will be stored in accordance with manufacturer guidance and not to exceed
expiration dates unless a shortened shelf-life once opened.
2. All stock medications must be clearly dated upon opening.
