CALL FOR MEMBERSHIP

WASAMA MEMBERSHIP NOW OPEN TO ALL PLAYERS IN IRRIGATION, WATER AND SANITATION SECTOR IN MALAWI

The Water Services Association of Malawi (WASAMA) is pleased to inform all stakeholders that it has now opened
its membership to all the players in the irrigation, water and sanitation in Malawi.

This is aimed at bringing WASAMA to its original status of being the national body for water services in Malawi so
that the association benefit all the players in the sector and promote greater local interaction and integrated
          water resources management (IRWM).

          What is WASAMA
WASAMA was registered under the Trustee Act on 23rd June, 1998. The Association was established with the aim of
ensuring maximum exchange of information, experiences in the water, sanitation, irrigation and hygiene sector as
well as conducting research. WASAMA aligns itself with the global water associations who are platforms of water
technology, sources of best practice, sources of focused ideas and strategy, reference points for information and
meeting places for professionals. WASAMA is currently a governing member association to the International Water
Association (IWA); which is a global network of water professionals. Despite being registered some time ago, the
association has not grown to its expected level over the years and for a good period of its existence it was limited
to membership of the five local Water Boards.

The association is governed by a Board called Governing Council, whose membership is drawn from within the
corporate members and the Secretary for Irrigation and Water Development as the Ex-Officio. Management of
the association is carried out by a secretariat headed by an Executive Secretary.

This open membership is extended to all other water, sanitation, irrigation and hygiene practitioners, Academia,
Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and individuals. The membership of
WASAMA is in the following categories which have varied membership fees payable per annum from 1st July:

          i. Corporate members: organizations properly constituted in Water Services and qualify to be in the Board
