permanent structures. The neighbor next to us had two daughters, Catrina and Katie. Catrina

and I were the same age and Katie was only a year younger than us. Their family was known for

having all the great holiday parties. When we were in our senior year of high school Catrina

dated this handsome, sexy guy who worked at the local Walmart named Ken. It was a very

short-lived romance before Catrina’s father found out that his 17-year-old daughter was dating

a 23-year-old man. Mr. Nolan IMMEDIATELY put a stop to that and I never heard Catrina

mention Ken again. We graduated and she went off to college in Mississippi and I went to

college in Florida, but we still did our best to try to keep in contact.

Five years later my mother calls and says that the Nolans are having their annual

Christmas party and that I was invited. I hadn’t seen Catrina or Katie since I had been living in

Florida so I decided to take the trip back home. I arrive at the party and everyone is eating and

drinking. The music’s playing, and it is just a good time being had by all. I see Catrina’s there

and we’re catching up and I meet her new boyfriend. I mean everything is going good. We’re

drinking and dancing having a ball! Then in walks Katie with a male friend. He looked so familiar

to me, but I didn’t realize where I knew him from until I heard Catrina say: “Ken! What the hell

are you doing with my sister?!”. So, I’m sitting there like oh shit! that is Ken. Catrina had such a

furious look on her face and I was so confused as to why. Yeah, they dated in high school, but

that was five years ago and for only about a week. On top of that she was standing next to her

current boyfriend making a scene.
