TEA BOWLS
Song Dynasty
Comprising two larger conical bowls and
four smaller bowls, all covered with a thick
iron-rich glaze, variously black and brown,
stopping short of the dark biscuit footrim, and
thinning to a chocolate hue at the mouth rims.
The largest 12.3cm (4 7/8in) diam.

A FAHUA SQUARE-SECTION INCENSE
BURNER
16th/17th century
Glazed in typical aubergine, turquoise and
straw tones, standing on four cabriole legs
and decorated with applied scrolling designs
of meandering lotuses and chilongs; together
with two small turquoise-glazed baluster
vases, 19th century and a small Cizhou-type
circular incense burner with scrolling lotus
designs under a crackled turquoise glaze,
wood cover with jade finial, Ming Dynasty.
The censer: 18.3cm (7in) wide across the
mouth (5).
