                     First half 20th century
                     Of compressed form, carved in relief with a sinuous chilong with
                     curling bifurcated tail, grasping a twin lingzhi branch in its mouth, the
                     twin foliate handles to the cover suspending loose rings, the stone with
                     natural gold flecking, silver wire inlaid wood stand.
                     The lapis 10.5cm (4.1/8in) high. (3).

                     AN AMBER ‘BUDDHIST LION’ CARVING
                     Late Qing
                     Modelled as a lion and playful cub, clambering upon rockwork
                     and resting its front paws on one side of the adult, a brocade ball
                     suspended from string grasped in its mouth.
