CUM WO
Queen’s Road, Hong Kong
circa 1860-1920
A retail silversmith; one of the “old school” inasmuch as it was a house of quality and superb attention to detail.
As with many of the retail silversmiths of the time, Cum Wo dealt in silver, gold, carved ivory, ceramics and most
other luxury goods. The picture [below] of the Cum Wo establishment on Queen’s Road, Hong Kong circa 1900
may not convey our idea of “luxury”, but Queen’s Road should be taken in the context of it being once the
quayside waterfront where goods were offloaded from ships.
