name of a retail silversmith
and manufactory in Canton ,
believed to be a business
partnership formed between
Massachusetts Bay merchant
John Perkins Cushing and
Houqua, the most powerful
of all the Hong merchants.
Cutshing was created solely
to exploit the sale of high
quality silver items, much of
it to America.
Because of this high profile
partnership, a large amount
of highly specialised silver
items were commissioned
from Cutshing. The House of
