GCT [GUANG HUA/KWONG WA]
Canton
circa 1900-1935

The GCT mark has appeared on several items of Chinese Export Silver in recent years at auction sales, in
particular high quality cocktail shakers. All marks carry identical “chopmark" with the name Guang Hua [Kwong
Wa in Cantonese].

GCT is a relatively rare mark to
come across. Likewise,
Chinese Export Silver bearing
the mark KWONG WA are
equally rare, but the style of
both are remarkably similar
although no hard evidence
exists to make a definitive link
between the two.

Research to date indicates that
GCT was Canton based and
Kwong Wa, Hong Kong based.
The research into both marks
continues.
