Importantly [for collectors] any enamelled silver that carries the Huang Qiu Ji mark achieves astounding values
at auction. A late 19th century three piece Poh Hing/Huang Qiu Ji tea set [below] recently was sold in the UK at
auction for over £43,000 [$69,500]
Applied champlevé enamelwork is the
technique often used by Huang Qiu Ji, as
in this, the “famous” aforementioned Poh
Sing tea set. A floral subject is almost
always the theme.
Blues, greens, pinks and yellow are the
colours Huang Qiu Ji favoured.
With current Chinese collectors, there is
a particular preference for any Chinese
silver that has enamelled colour applied.
This is not dissimilar to Chinese
preferences at the time this tea set was
made at the end of the 19th century.
