Ingenuity struck again when Hung Chong produced this tea service [below] that takes its form from a
naturalistic adaption of a bamboo stem complete with all the grain marking a natural stem would have. It is quite
unique and, if I recall correctly, not copied or attempted by any other Chinese retail silversmith
Equally ingenious and to my mind again unique to Hung Chong is this inverted baluster form circa 1900 tea
service [below] that has embossed crabs climbing reed plants against a beautifully executed basket-weave
ground. Humour comes through with the tea pot finial taking the form of a frog.
A quite extraordinary Art
Deco tea set from Hung
Chong - again, probably
unique in the Chinese Export
Silver repertoire and expertly
created to defy its origins in
every way. Perfect for
Shanghai or Hong Kong.
