Onn Sing is essentially a Chinese silversmith operating in Singapore. On rare occasions, items bearing this
mark are catalogued in Western auction houses as being Chinese Export Silver. Although often Chinese-
looking, the techniques used and the treatment of classical Chinese motifs are not always what one expects to
find in mainland China - if this is anything, then it is technically Peranakan silver, but Onn Sing has been
regarded as a Chinese silversmith since silver bearing the marks was first identified - and rightly so.
