The theme of neo-classical form has been chosen for the tea and coffee service [previous illustration], but it has
a pseudo-Queen Anne style with a modern twist. It is of a later date than the previous teapot - circa 1915-1925
The cutlery set is of the same period. While it doesn’t conform to any particular recognised flatware pattern, it is
nevertheless a quality item - in general, this period was one of experimentation with some cutlery patterns not
having altered for over 200 years.

cheroot case with parcel gilded
interior and precision catch
shows how versatile Sheng Yuan
was and how a creative mind as
well as a consistency of quality
was an obvious driving force.
