A superb example of Tai Kut’s work for Wang Hing - a circa 1885-90 tazza with reticulated dish supported by
stylised bamboo stems that have been twisted and then fanned out so that the fronds form the support for the
dish. The stems are “planted” in the traditional Chinese style on a mound of exposed roots - an allegorical
decorative motif to symbolise a strength and integrity.. A pair of herons are standing on the root mound. The
bowl of the dish is finely reticulated to the point of being almost lace-like.
