                                                                       the British nobility, having realised
                                                                       its  non-tarnishing  properties  while
                                                                       remaining looking as silver made it
                                                                       ideal  for  fireplace  equipment  and
                                                                       accessories.  Paktong  had  the
                                                                       ability  to  be  worked  in  the  neo-
                                                                       classical  style,  as  can  be  seen
                                                                       from  this  early  19th  century
                                                                       andiron, one of a pair [left] and the
                                                                       superb  George  III  fire  grate
                                                                       [above].
