A CARVED ZITAN ‘LOTUS POND’ BRUSH POT, BITONG
18TH CENTURY
The brush pot is fnely carved on the exterior with a continuous scene
of lotus stems and other aquatic plants emerging from a pond. There
are various creatures amongst the growth, including two intricately
depicted crabs on one side and a shrimp and fsh leaping from the
water.
