70 The central support is formed by a hinged,
rectangular lattice frame with a toprail carved
with lingzhi and foliate scroll. The frame is
supported by a pair of folding braces, and
the bottom crossbar bears a protruding lip to
support the book or mirror.

18TH CENTURY
The rectangular box is framed by baitong
mounts at the corners of both box and cover.
The front is set with a lock-plate and ruyi-
form clasp. The wood is well-fgured.
