A SILVER-INLAID ZITAN CUP
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The zitan cup is inlaid in silver wire with a
band of key fret on the foot, and the sides
with three rows of shou characters which are
interrupted by an openwork handle carved
as a fowering and budding branch bearing
a single peach at the rim. A three-character
mark, Jing Jing Zhai (Studio of Jing Jing)
within a square is inlaid in silver wire on the
base. The interior has a silver lining.

The tall sides are lobed in conforming
outline to the mallow-form mouth and base,
the latter carved with petals radiating from
the center.
