The famille rose enamelled wares of the Daoguang period, and in
particular those created for the Shen de tang, were renowned for their
delicacy. Three related vases with Shen de tang marks are illustrated
in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum:
Porcelains with Cloisonné Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose
Decoration, Hong Kong, 1999, pl.188-190.
Compare an almost identical but mirror-image vase, formerly in the
Weishaupt Collection, which was sold at Christie’s New York, 19
September 2006, lot 419. See also a very similar vase, Daoguang
mark and period, formerly in the Edward T. Chow Collection, sold at
Sotheby’s, Hong Kong, on 19 May 1981, lot 597.
