The robust beast detailed with bulging eyes,
eyes and horns, the legs bent and cleanly folded
underneath the body with its tail swayed around its
thigh, carrying a cluster of scrolling clouds at the
back supporting a crescent moon, all covered under
a lustrous sea-green glaze. 23.2cm (9 1/8in) wide

‘DRAGON AND PHOENIX’ DISH
15th century
The centre with two phoenixes flying amidst scrolling
clouds, the wide sides with two striding dragons
pursuing a flaming pearl amid vaporous clouds, all
covered under a lustrous celadon glaze stopping
short of the foot. 47.3cm (18 5/8in) diam.
