The cover decorated with a qilin surrounded by
flower heads and a constellation, the box with
scrolling flowers, covered with a sea-green glaze
except for the recessed base, Japanese wood box.

A LONGQUAN CELADON-GLAZED BOTTLE
VASE
15th century
Rising from a flaring foot, carved with
chrysanthemums and feather-like foliage below a
band of stylised scrollwork, the long cylindrical neck
encircled by two parallel lines beneath the everted
rim, applied overall with a greyish-green glaze, the
unglazed footrim burnt orange in firing, Japanese
wood box.
