A LONGQUAN CELADON-GLAZED LOZENGE-SHAPED BOX
AND COVER
16th century
The cover surmounted by a finial in the form of a seated Buddhist lion,
its head turned to the right with fang teeth and a bushy leaf-shaped
tail, the left front paw raised and placed on brocade ball tied with curly
ribbons, all covered under a rich olive-green glaze, Japanese wood
box.
