A CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON-GLAZED
YEN YEN VASE
16th century
The foot bordered with a row of upright lappets
rising to a bulbous body delicately carved around
the upper body with scrolls of blossoming peonies,
the neck similarly decorated below a series of
concentric rings encircling the trumpet mouth,
covered overall with a sea-green glaze, the footrim
left unglazed exposing the buff ware burnt orange in
the firing, Japanese wood box.
