A SMALL GUAN-TYPE
LOTUS-LEAF-FORM BRUSH WASHER
18TH CENTURY
The washer is naturalistically modeled as a lotus
leaf with curled edges, the veins excecuted in slip
on the base. It is covered overall in a pale blue-grey
crackle-sufused glaze.

AN INSCRIBED DEHUA BOWL
17TH CENTURY
This bowl is thickly potted in a rounded shape
and raised on a fat, circular foot. One side incised
in running script with a poetic inscription, and is
covered inside and out with a glaze of ivory tone.

The poetic inscription, entitled “Cloud”,
can be loosely translated as “snap one’s fngers
at social living, and wear a contented expression
for six springs”.
