          A TURQUOISE, AUBERGINE AND WHITE-E-
          DECORATED YELLOW-GROUND BOWLL
          KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
          The deep, rounded sides are carved on the exterior ior
          with a bird perched on a fowering branch growing ng
          to one side of a pierced rock opposite a fowering g
          magnolia branch on the other side, and the reverse rse
          is carved with a butterfy in fight above bamboo o
          leaves, all picked out in turquoise, aubergine and d
          white on a washed yellowish-ochre ground applied ied
          to the biscuit that also covers the interior where
          the glaze is fnely mottled. An apocryphal Jiajing g
          mark is on the base.

          AN UNUSUAL CIZHOU-TYPE PAINTED
          TURQUOISE-GLAZED OVOID BOTTLE
          MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY,
          17TH CENTURY
          The heavily potted body is painted in black with h
          a bold design of two mythical beasts standing on on
          rocky outcroppings amidst turbulent waves, each ch
          with vapor issuing from its jaws, below a sawtooth oth
          border on the shoulder and upright triangles on
          the neck, all under a crackle-sufused glaze of
          deep turquoise color.
          11º in. (28.6 cm.) high
