A GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER
17TH/18TH CENTURY

明末清初 銅灑金三足爐

The censer is of compressed round form with a waisted neck and everted mouth rim, supported by three
short feet detailed with lingzhi. The shoulder is applied with twin loop-handles in the form of dragons.
The body is cast in shallow relief with shou characters fanked by confronting dragons. The bronze is
of a darkish brown tone with irregular scattered gilt splashes. The base has an apocryphal Xuande six-
character mark .
