A PAIR OF RARE FINELY CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURES OF FEMALE MUSICIANS
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

明十七世紀 壽山石仕女一組兩件

Each fgure is beautifully carved with an elongated body, holding a musical instrument and dressed in long
fowing robes. Each robe is delicately incised with roundels enclosing lotus blooms borne on leafy tendrils.
Their faces are delicately carved with a serene expression, gentle smile and downcast eyes, and their hair
is neatly arranged into a tall chignon.
