A FINELY CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF SHOULAO
18TH CENTURY
清十八世紀 壽山石壽老
The standing immortal is fnely carved wearing long fowing robes tied at the
chest, which are delicately incised with vaporous clouds and chrysanthemum
roundels. The typically elongated head and face are carved from the pale
section of the stone, while the body is carved from the mottled red and
brown areas.
