A GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

The seated fgure is cast wearing an elaborate scrolling headdress, knotted
hair trailing down each shoulder and a beaded tasselled pendant to the chest,
and is dressed in fowing robes with incised foral decoration to the hem.

The fgure is modelled seated in dhyanasana holding a fower in both hands,
wearing long robes and a headdress which are both elaborately decorated
with jewellery. The fgure is seated on a separate double lotus stand with an
openwork base.
