A PAIR OF TIANQI LACQUER CHAIRS

明萬曆 填漆花鳥紋椅一對
Each chair has a shaped top rail, supported by an openwork shaped back panel incorporating the design of
two phoenix amongst scrolling lingzhi stems. Each arm side panel is carved with a cloud scroll edge, joined
to the seat panel decorated with large lotus and birds. The square-section legs are joined by rectangular-
section stretchers, similarly decorated to the arms and top rail with lotus blooms and scrolling tendrils.
